Chieftain Notches Up Sixty Year Achievement
Pitlochry Highland Games had a special reason to celebrate on September 9 when Sir David Butter attended as chieftain for his sixtieth successive year.
With the hills of Highland Perthshire providing a spectacular backdrop, Sir David presided over the last highland games of the season, and the colours, sounds and spectacle of all the traditional events attracted some of the best competitors.
Held alongside the River Tummel at the town's recreation ground, the games began with local heavyweight athletes and dancers competing. Open heavy events, highland dancing, solo piping and track and field events continued throughout the day.
