Highland Perthshire Initiative (HPI) Underway

The research project initiative (HPI), previously reported to link the community in with the new Learning and Training Campus for Highland Perthshire, has commenced.

A contract for the work has been made with the academic researcher Dr Rhys Evans, based in Blairgowrie. He has completed the initial phase of work and is currently interviewing a host of key contacts in the locality.

Dr Evans told Comment: “We now aim to consult more widely both with those who have long and valuable experience with community development and enterprise in the Highland Perthshire area, and with those who bring new ideas and enthusiasms to the place.

Online Forum

“We will be contacting a number of folk directly to ask them to share their ideas and experiences with us, and will be opening a forum in commentonline dedicated to the study where anyone can contact us, offer ideas, and discuss directly what others have submitted. We encourage all to visit the site and offer suggestions.”

The next phase of the study is expected to last for three months.

“What we learn from this will be combined with information gleaned from other projects, from government and NGOs, and from other communities,” Dr Evans continued. “This will all be analysed and will result in a Report which both documents what we have learned, and makes suggestions on the ways forward to the next step.

Local Asset Development

“That next step will critically and broadly involve local people in helping to build a community investment in lifelong learning, and in the greater development of the many assets Highland Perthshire already enjoys."
