MSP Raises A9 Issue In Scottish Parliament
North Tayside MSP John Swinney has flagged up his growing call for action over the A9 with Transport Minister, Tavish Scott following calls from the Confederation of British Industry and the Scottish Council for Development in Industry that dualling work should be undertaken on the accident prone highway.
Mr Swinney said: "My opportunity to quiz the Minister on the issue of the A9 came at a very opportune time, just after I was able to highlight the growing support from influential industry bodies for the call for A9 dualling to be undertaken. “I was able to raise with the Minister the fact that it is not just local campaigners and politicians who are calling for the upgrade of the A9, but it has now been recognised that it is essential for the benefit of the Scottish economy that action is taken. I will continue to keep up the pressure on the Scottish Executive, as the growing clamour for dualling continues.”

Pete Wishart, Perth and North Perthshire MP, added: “The growing call for dualling work on the A9 is becoming deafening and I hope that it is only a matter of time until they cave in and commit to investment which will benefit all road users and protect the safety of motorists on what is Scotland’s most dangerous road.”
