Suzanne’s a Scorcher on the S Bends
THE PICK of the plumbers among the 45 first and second year apprentices at Perth College this year is Suzanne Morrison of Aberfeldy.
On 4 May the delighted student received word that she will receive a £50 cheque and a shield at the college’s award ceremony in recognition of her achievement.
Suzanne, who embarked upon the course which involves three years at college and a year of supervised work ‘on the job’, had the advantage of picking up on the trade with her vastly experienced dad, Ruaridh Morrison, who has operated his plumbing and heating business in Highland Perthshire for many years.
Although she isn't the only female plumber at Perth College, there's another one training also, this is still a heavily male-dominated occupation. It is also a field which is becoming increasingly popular as a career choice over the last few years, due to the media coverage it has attracted. |

Suzanne spoke of her thrill in achieving her ground-breaking status of Best Apprentice 2005/2006. And her dad? “He put the success down to my early training!” she told Comment, “and he hopes that I don’t get head hunted.”
