Living a Healthy Life with a Chronic Condition
A FREE, SIX WEEK self-management course, open to anyone with a chronic condition (arthritis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, heart disease etc), is to be held in Aberfeldy. The course, run by Janice of Arthritis Care Scotland, will start on 13 April at the Aberfeldy Health Centre.
Trained staff, also with a chronic condition, will lead the sessions, each lasting two and a half hours. The course is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has a chronic condition that in some way affects their life. There is no charge and anyone is welcome to enrol and come along.
Arthritis Care has been successfully running self-management courses for people with arthritis for 10 years and the programme has now been adapted to support people with any form of disabling condition. |

The aim is to enable individuals to take more effective control of their condition and therefore their lives through sessions delivered over the six-week period. Among the subjects taught are pain management, how to handle fatigue, improved diet, the best forms of exercise and relaxation techniques. For many this will be a first step towards achieving a more independent and confident way of day-to-day living.
