Alan and Sheila Draper, from Wolsingham in County Durham, completed the Local Skills Trail on the weekend of 9/10 September which was organised by the Blair Atholl Area Tourism Association (BAATA). The couple were presented with a framed limited edition photo of Blair Castle.
The Drapers are frequent visitors to the area, and they thought that the new event was interesting and very well organised. It allowed them to meet lots of local people in different environments.
The trail included a competition for anyone visiting all the participants in the skills trail found in the Blair Atholl, Killiecrankie and Calvine areas and embraced painting, picture framing, horse gymnastics, personal fitness, kilt making, forge work, bowls, milling, book binding, fly tying, sugar work and gardening.
BAATA was delighted at the turnout for its new event, and hopes to expand it in 2007 to include even more skills.
