Friends of Aberfeldy Parklands (FoAP)

The FoAP’s June meeting saw a presentation of the landscape architect’s Victoria Park Sketch Master Plan. It was great to see the proposed improvements to the park down on paper, in particular the ideas for some really exciting play equipment. Look out for the plan being displayed soon at Aberfeldy Recreation Centre & Aberfeldy Library.

FoAP held a very successful stall at the Aberfeldy Gala (see above) – thanks to everyone who bought tickets on the day at the bottle stall, the individuals who generously gave items from their own cupboards and the following companies who kindly donated prizes:

Dewars World of Whisky, Scalliwags, Scottish & Southern Energy, Dobbies Garden Centre, Blair Castle, Tesco, The Flower Shop, Gatehouse Nursery, Munros, The Watermill, Gifts & Gowns, Blair Atholl Distillery, Girvans, Farmfresh, Spar, Dows, Windows, Spirit of Wood, Highland Adventure Safaris, Aberfeldy Butchers, Aberfeldy Co-Op, Homer, Wishing Well, Haggarts, The Rannoch Smokery & The Courtyard.

The stall would have been much less interesting without the help of these local companies so many, many thanks! All the children had good fun making bird boxes – these will be put up in the park soon – and guessing the number of sweets in the jar. Congratulations to Heather Menzies for making the closest guess.

At the Aberfeldy Show the revised and more detailed Master Plan for Victoria Park will be presented on FoAP’s stall. The group’s meetings, held on the first Monday of every month at 7.30pm at the Locus Centre, are open to all. Everyone is very welcome to go along, see the plans for the park and give their views. There’s no pressure to be involved in committee work.

Alternatively, to be included on the group’s mailing list please email fiona-fraser@supanet.co
