The Ultimate Event
The Church of Scotland, in partnership with Perth & District YMCA, is taking a group of 30 young people (below) to Alton Towers to experience the Ultimate Event.
This event involves the use of the theme park during the day and a massive concert at night with over 12,000 young people attending from all over the UK. Top Christian artists, including Matt Redman and Rebecca St James, will be performing as well as other guest appearances from Tough Talk and Caged Football.
In order to raise the £3000 to finance the event the young people have had to take part in a number of fundraising activities including a Bagpack at the Co-op, a Car Wash at the Fire Station (thanks to Derek Wittman and the local fire fighters who gave up their time) and a sponsored 24 hour fast at the Church, during which the young people took part in team exercises, music workshops and heard real life testimonies, there was also music from Simple Cross and a special appearance from K9ine just back from a tour of America. |

The young people also carried out various projects in the local community which included cutting grass and strimming at the Scout & Guide Hall, litter picking at Old Crieff Road and the Birks and a group also provided entertainment at the Cottage Hospital. This event was a huge success and provided the young people involved an opportunity to develop existing skills and to contribute to the community.
On behalf of the young people Franny and Jill McGrath would like to thank McKenzie Strickland Associates, Highland Perthshire Youth Initiative, Tayside Fire Brigade, The McKillop Trust, the many local businesses and the local community for all their help and assistance.
