Café Project Launched at Aberfeldy Recreation Centre

Cafe Aroma in the Aberfeldy Recreation Centre, got off to a fine start on 30 November when it was assisted by Breadalbane Academy pupils who painted its menu boards and provided live music for the event.
The formal ribbon-cutting was performed by Mrs Helena Cant, the Development Officer for PUSH, which is a project for people with learning disabilities. It works with groups and individuals to offer training and interest-led activities to enable them to become more included in their local, - and often rural - communities.

The Cafe will be open until 23 December from 10am to 4.30pm and will reopen again after Christmas on 9 January, after which it will include late night opening until 6.30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The facility offers homemade soups, jacket potatoes, paninis and toasties, what are described as ‘rustic’ sandwiches’, a hot dish of the day, homemade cakes and selections of Fair Trade coffees, speciality teas and hot chocolate.

Future Plans
At some point next year Café Aroma will de-camp to another venue in Aberfeldy while the new school complex is being built. “It is intended that it will eventually be sited on the new campus. Once the café is up and running, it will be able to offer a supervised children’s play area, a retail outlet for cards, recipe books, artwork and food produced by the local academy and the Corbenic Community centre,” added Helena.
