Local Area Schools' Quiz & WW2 Nostalgia Matinee

The Area round of the Rotary Club Schools’ Quiz was held on Friday 24 February in Breadalbane School, with six teams representing Blair Atholl, Breadalbane, Grandtully, Kenmore, Logierait and Pitlochry taking part.

As usual it was a closely fought contest with Logierait taking an early lead before being caught at the end of the seventh round by Breadalbane. The result was in doubt until the very end with Breadalbane and Logierait matching each other point for point.

The final result was: in third place Kenmore Primary, in second place Logierait Primary with Breadalbane Primary finally winning by a margin of two points. Congratulations to the winners who go on to the next round at Rotary District level and thanks to all who took part, including our own Club members who helped on the day.

Kashmir Earthquake Appeal

A belated thank you to all who supported our appeal so generously, including the £534 raised by the collection and other donations arising from the Carol Concert, at a time of year when there are so many other calls on people’s cash. The funds raised were topped up by the Club to enable 8 Shelter Boxes to be sent to Kashmir that will provide shelter for up to eighty people, as well as giving them some of the basic utensils they require and clean water for a period.

We’ll Meet Again

In partnership with the Rotary Club of Pitlochry the Club is bringing the professional show ‘We’ll Meet Again’, which last year appeared at Perth Theatre, to the Aberfeldy Town Hall on Thursday 30 March. The show brings to life the music and characters of the war years and normally runs for a summer season at a major English resort.

A special matinee is being laid on for senior citizens and enquiries for tickets for this should be directed to Age Concern. Tickets for the evening performance are available from Wade’s Newsagents or Spar and cost £10 each or £15 for two. I hope as many people as possible will turn out and support us on the night.
