Upper Tay Group's Cheques to Good Causes

Funds raised by running the Aberfeldy Country Markets over the past few years were disbursed recently with four local groups benefiting.

Move2Improve, which organised the town square refurbishment, received a cheque for £500; Dalweem Comfort Fund and Friends of Aberfeldy Cottage Hospital each received £300 and the Aberfeldy & District Gaelic Choir £250 (pictured right with conductor Frances McCallum, left, receiving the cheque from Sandie Goodyear, UTG's Markets Co-ordinator).
“It was always intended to give any surplus funds back to the community,” said Anthony Blythe, chair of the Upper Tay Group under whose guidance the Markets are run. “We are delighted that these four major local organisations are the first to benefit.”
Over the past two years the newly revitalised Aberfeldy Scout Troop has regularly provided the person-power to erect and dismantle the market stalls in return for a donation.
