Pitlochry & Blair Atholl Pipe Band has had a hectic but successful summer so far.
Promoted two grades from last season to Grade 3B, it was placed 4th at Dunbar, 7th at the Scottish Championships, 4th at the British Championships and in mid August in Glasgow, at the World Championships, it was delighted with 6th place.
Competing with it in Glasgow were three members from their twin band, Sonerien an Oriant from Lorient in Brittany. Claire Scott told Comment: “Several of our band members, Pipe Majors Christy & Sharon Kelly, Pipers Paul Walker, Ross MacGregor, Graham Stewart and Drummer Katy Scott competed with Sonerien an Oriant in February at the Breton Championships in Brest and performed again with them recently at the Interceltique Festival while the band was in Lorient.
“On top of all that they have had two very successful Celtic Evenings at Blair Castle playing to large and enthusiastic crowds. After the final major championships of the season at Cowal, the band plays at Pitlochry Games on 9 September,” Claire added.
