Pitlochry and Blair Atholl Pipe Band enjoyed a great end to its season when Drum Major Joe Goodfellow, in his new band uniform, proudly marched down the street parade to 2nd place in the competition at the Pitlochry Games, reported Christy Kelly.
Success followed in the competition ring with the Band coming 1st in Grade 3. Eve Muirhead and Calum Graham also did well in the Solo Piping competition.
Many thanks go to everyone who donated prizes and purchased raffle tickets for our prize draw, and congratulations to all the winners.
After playing a Beat the Retreat at Blair Castle on the 23 September the band headed off early the next morning to the small island of Easdale to play, and participate, at the World Stone Skimming Championships. Despite the weather, everyone had a fantastic day out and well done to Eilidh Paterson and Jenny Scott for being placed 2nd & 3rd in the under 16 girls event.
The day was topped off with a high speed boat trip around the island by our generous hosts Tony and Jess Hill.
Two of our pipers, Ross MacGregor and Dave Stark, are running the Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday 1 October and hope to cross the finish line playing their pipes! All proceeds will go to the band.
