Start to Pipe Band Centenary Year

The Vale of Atholl pipe band, founded in 1906, and now sponsored by Robert Wiseman Dairies, played its first engagement of its centenary year at the Atholl Palace Hogmanay party in Pitlochry at midnight 31 December.
It was then back on parade at 1.00pm in the afternoon to open the “Pitlochry New Year street party” where a magnificent crowd filled the street to dance, sing and party the afternoon away.

The next pipe band appearance will be at Kenmore at the opening of the salmon fishing season on Monday 16 January where it will lead the procession down to the river bank from the Kenmore hotel at 10.00am.
The band’s annual junior piping and drumming competition is on the 21 January in Pitlochry high school. This promises to be a full day of piping and drumming with a record number of entries. The event starts at 9.30am
