Centenary Livery Launch for Pipe Band

The Robert Wisemand Dairies' Vale of Atholl pipe band held its AGM in Fishers Hotel, Piltochry on 19 March. Prior to this the band marched down Atholl Road to the War Memorial proudly displaying its centenary banner, then it was back up to Fishers where it displayed its centenary logo on both sides of one of local coach operator Elizabeth Yule’s coaches (see below).

Many thanks indeed to Mrs Yule for this “use” of her bus.

Glowing reports were given at the meeting by Pipe Major Andy Renwick (Grade 1) and Pipe Major Scott Oliphant (novice juvenile), both bands having had a good competing season and Stuart Letford was officially appointed Pipe Major of the Parade Band.

Robert Wiseman Dairies were thanked for their sponsorship of the band and David Gauld, funeral director, was thanked for sponsoring the mini bus which takes learner chanterers and drummers to the practice in Pitlochry every Wednesday.

The office bearers were appointed as follows: President Erhard Penker, Chairman Alister Walker, Secretary Gillie McNab, Treasurer Alister Walker, Pipe Majors Andy Renwick (Grade 1), Scott Oliphant (Nov. Juv.), Stuart Letford (Parade), Snr. Drum Major Ian Cramb, Lead Tip Paul Turner, Equipment Officer Kieran Downey (Grade 1) Gillie McNab (Nov and parade), Webmaster Brian Gibb, Membership Secretary Lyndsey Kaye, Parent Rep Andrew Wilson, committee member Kenny Forbes.

The band has a busy year ahead with competitions, concerts and a number of parades to celebrate our centenary year and of course our now famous Highland Nights that we run in Pitlochry Recreation Ground every Monday from Monday 29th May to 4th Sept.

The novice and parade bands are off to Aschaffenburg in Germany to celebrate the 50th year twinning with Perth during culture week where we are playing at the tattoo along with the Spessart highlanders and the Spielmanzugs.

The junior band will be playing at Fishers Hotel on Easter Saturday from 2 pm.where there will also be a selection of Centenary Goods for sale.
