Junior Pipe Band's Albert Hall Gig

The Junior Band of the Robert Wiseman Vale of Atholl Pipeband, had an experience of a lifetime when they were invited down to London to play at the Schools Prom 2005 in The Royal Albert Hall.
A group of 55, including 29 players, tutors and parents, flew down to London and headed straight to the Albert Hall for a rehearsal. The evening performance was opened by the pipe band to rapturous applause and announcer Richard Stilgo stated it was the first time a pipe band had ever played at the Schools Prom.

The other acts, which included choirs, brass, fiddle and string bands, all had to compete for their place, but the pipe band was spotted by the event organiser at one of its Pitlochry Highland Nights and specially invited to perform.
The next day started with a bus tour, then a trip on the London Eye, followed by a cruise down the Thames and finally a visit to the London Dungeon before heading back to the airport.
A most successful trip was enjoyed by all.
